2027 Gator Board: Help Needed
Gator Families,
We need your help! As we begin preparing for the 2027 swim season, we still have a crucial board position to fill: Computer Manager.
This is a behind-the-scenes role that is absolutely essential to our swim meets. From organizing meet entries to making sure results are recorded and shared, the Computer Manager helps keep our meets running smoothly. Quite simply, we cannot run our swim meets without someone stepping into this role. We are reaching out to all of our Gator families in hopes that someone might be willing to help us fill this important position!
Why consider joining the Gator Board?
Being part of the board is about so much more than fulfilling a volunteer requirement. It's an opportunity to:
- Fulfill your family's volunteer requirement for the season.
- Give back to a team that means so much to our neighborhood and our families.
- Build friendships with other Gator parents and become part of an amazing community.
- Get a behind-the-scenes look at what makes our swim team so special.
- Help preserve our 50-plus-year Gator tradition while finding ways to make it even better for future swimmers.
What does the Computer Manager do?
The Computer Manager oversees our SwimTopia, Meet Manager system and the computer work that makes our swim meets possible. Responsibilities include:
- Setting up and maintaining SwimTopia for team events and meets.
- Coordinating with coaches on meet entries, swimmer RSVPs, and deadlines.
- Communicating with opposing teams to combine meet entries.
- Setting up entries for home meets and generating heat sheets.
- Running the computer and results system during home meets.
- Importing and exporting meet data, troubleshooting technical issues, and distributing final results.
- Preparing and printing meet documents, including timer sheets and relay sheets.
- Serving as the primary contact with the SwimTopia Help Desk.
Sounds like a lot? Here's the good news!
We know this position may sound intimidating, especially if you've never been involved with meet management before. We want you to know that you will not be doing this alone! We are committed to making this transition as easy as possible.
- Training and support are provided! You'll receive training from NWAL, our previous Computer Manager, and our Gator president. We'll help you learn the system and be there to answer questions along the way.
- Most of the work happens at home meets. There is some preparation leading up to meets, but the majority of the time commitment is during our home meets. You will not need to work at away meets.
- You can bring a partner! Feel free to recruit a spouse or fellow Gator parent to share the responsibilities with you.
- You get an air-conditioned workspace! While everyone else is out on the pool deck, you'll have a comfortable place to work—and you'll still be able to watch your swimmer compete.
- You don't have to be a swim expert! If you're organized, comfortable working on a computer, and willing to learn, you may be exactly the person we're looking for.
Please consider helping us fill this position!
We know everyone's schedules are busy, and we truly appreciate all the ways our families contribute to the Gators. However, this is one position we absolutely must fill to ensure our 2027 season can run successfully. If you've ever thought about getting more involved, or if you know someone who might be a great fit, we would love to hear from you!
Even if you're unsure whether this role is right for you, please reach out. We're happy to answer questions and talk through what the commitment looks like before you make a decision.
Please contact Robbie Morrow ([email protected]) if you're interested or would like more information. We would be incredibly grateful to find someone willing to step up and help keep our Gator tradition going strong!
Thank you for being part of our Gator family and for everything you do to make this team so special.
Chomp Chomp! 🐊
